The Dolomites are towers of pale stone that blush rose at sunset — a UNESCO landscape of almost impossible drama, and one of my personal favorites to recommend.
I always tell clients the Dolomites rise from north-eastern Italy like nothing else on earth — jagged, pale, utterly unique. This UNESCO World Heritage range in South Tyrol and the Veneto is, in my opinion, one of Europe's most spectacular natural landscapes in any season.
In summer, I love routing clients along the alta via walking routes between rifugi — mountain huts serving hearty Tyrolean food and cold beer with front-row views of the peaks. I especially recommend the Tre Cime di Lavaredo circuit, the Seceda plateau, and the Alpe di Siusi — Europe's largest alpine meadow.
In winter, I send my skiers here without hesitation. The Sella Ronda — a circular route linking four valleys and 26 lifts — is one of the great alpine touring experiences. And I love the villages of Cortina d'Ampezzo, Ortisei, and Alta Badia for sophisticated après-ski and top-tier accommodation.
I also love the cultural side of South Tyrol — that meeting of Italian and Austrian traditions produces exceptional wine, cured meats, and architecture shaped by centuries of mountain living. I design my Dolomite trips to balance adventure with refinement.
